Very friendly hosts, we went to the morning safari and Sambadh (hope it’s the right spelling) cared for us all the time and even prepared lunch when we came back, food was really good.

We were given a warm welcome and a choice of staying with the room option we booked or changing to the upstairs cottage with better views. Of course we switched and the view was great. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We had prearranged two safaris to Bundala NP and these were both excellent. Chami came with us on both and ensured we saw so many birds and had a great time. We also arranged transfers to and from the cottage and Chami did a great job of driving us. We had an evening meal as well, which was delicious and just what we needed after a busy day. We would definitely recommend staying here, it was so welcoming and friendly and had everything we wanted and needed.

It is a simple hotel that does everything it needs. The host makes a delicious buffet lunch every day. I used this hotel because I had to get up early in the morning to go to Bundala National Park.

We loved our stay here. It’s right in front of the beautiful Indian Ocean. What can you ask more? Roshan and his team added a special touch to our stay with their kindness and attention to details. Our stay at The Yala Lodge was absolutely incredible. We had the great honor of being the very first guests – and it truly exceeded all our expectations. The villa and its private pool were so stunning that we actually postponed our safari by a day just to enjoy more time in this beautiful place. The villa is spacious, tastefully designed, and offers a breathtaking view of the lush greenery and pool. One of the highlights was being able to observe some wildlife right from the property – a truly special experience. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every meal was prepared with so much effort and love, and the food was fantastic. Communication with the very kind owner, Pradeep, was smooth and easy. He also provided us with great safari tips. Since we had to leave early for the safari (at 5:30 AM), they even packed us a lovely breakfast to take with us – such a thoughtful gesture. The rooms were spotless and met high Western standards – beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout our stay. All in all, we were absolutely thrilled with our experience. If we ever come back to Yala, there’s no doubt – we’ll stay here again! Thank you so much for this wonderful stay!

The property was very clean and colourful and was in a great location. It was near to 4 national parks and next to the beach. The property was very natural and a perfect place to relax after a few days travelling around Sri Lanka.

I truly recommend House of Freedom. It is a perfect place if you want to experience the local culture and see how the locals live. I've spent 24 hours with Isuru. We had a trip around Bundala, a motor night safari and morning birds watching. Additionally lunch in his family house and evening barbecue. The house and room are humble, but everything is clean and the hospitality is amazing. The sourounding is breathtaking. No tourists around. It was an unfargetable experience!
