Unique, clean, and comfortable accommodation. Breakfast, and dinner especially, were excellent with music, singing, and dancing as superb live entertainment in the evening. The location is incredible and we went on spectacular hikes through the gorge and then enjoyed the breathtaking view of the stars at night. The staff organised a taxi for us on departure with a friendly driver at a very reasonable price. We cannot thank the team enough for this experience and would recommend to anyone without hesitation. We stayed for two nights during our motorcycle trip around Marocco and Western Sahara. The stay was intended to load our internal baterries and have some rest after tiresome desert riding. There are two things I do not understand: why the hotel is not 5 star and why there are some opinions here on booking that are not "10". The staff, facilities and service are flawless. The food & drinks choice and quality is also very good. We booked two standard rooms and altghough I travel a lot I do not remember having such a big and well decorated rooms in any of the 5 star hotels I stayed in. She went above and beyond with all of our requests and even gave us some recommendations about some places to visit and restaurants. Few days before visiting this hotel, we went to Ibis hotel in Ouarzazate. Ibis was twice as expensive, breakfast was crap and room was super untidy and not maintained properly. We had an all-inclusive hotel, therefore we didn't go out to eat or drink. Activities we did: -Jet skis- we didn't pre-book. Just rock up to the beach and barter! We got a great deal for 2 pax 15 min €50 (on their price list it was €50 for 1 pax 20min). -Quad bike tour in the Sahara- this we booked online on the day. Because it was last minute we got a half price discount for €19pp. This included; hotel pickup/drop off, 3 hour quad bike tour, sand surfing and tea break at the beach. Amazing experience. -Souk el Had- biggest market in Africa- a must! Go in prepared and don't get scammed like we did 5 min in. Barter. Barter. BARTER. Check online on TikTok for price comparisons on how much things should be. But amazing experience and very clean compared to other markets I had been to. The Riad Caravene is fantastic in every way. The riad looks like something from House Beautiful with beautiful spaces and lovely art. The rooms are gorgeous, the common spaces lovely. Particularly nice are the two terraces near and at the top of the riad, with great views in all directions and lovely furnishings. The small pool and deck on the ground floor also were lovely and a perfect spot after walking around the ksar. The staff were wonderfully helpful and the food outstanding. You really don't need to stop here and stay over...
You really don't need to stop here and stay over... The todra gorge is beautiful to see, but you could drive up to it and out again. I recommend stopping at Family el Mabrouk restaurant on your way into the gorge for a truly authentic experience. They are so full of energy. Interesting town with souks and a historical setting where Ali Baba the original film was shot . A local man attached himself to us and ended up giving an informal guided tour. The restaurant we had a lunch was tasty and not expensive. We had a sunset tour on the camel organized from the Oases Tiloqui luxury Hotel, and it was great. From Zagora is 75 minutes by car to reach the location where you can also spend a night in the tents, that it can be quiet unique. We stay only for dinner after the camel tour. There are some great surf spots within a short drive and...
There are some great surf spots within a short drive and good value restaurants. Beyond this, there is not much to do. The neighboured seems safe though is a little dirty. There are some very friendly locals though it feels like most just want to make money out of you rather than have a genuine interaction. Great little town where you can stock up on food, souvenirs and get petrol. Locals are super friendly and laid back and things that we bought at the market were definitely cheaper than we found in Taroudant. Hiking must be awesome but we didn't have enough time.
