The staff is incredible! super clean and magical. The breakfast was delicious and very well portioned. This is a historical place and you can feel how well it’s taken care of. It’s conveniently located to the plaza and you can purchase private tours for the Edward James garden directly through them.

My stay at Refugio Huasteca was absolutely memorable! I traveled only with my mother and had many concerns as I am not familiar with the area and it was my first time visiting. All staff is incredible and very attentive to our needs. I truly feel they personalized my experience and made me feel at home and safe. Hotel is clean and exceptionally maintained. I needed someone that I could trust to show us around. Per my request they recommended us with a wonderful guide to show us around, who was compassionate, caring ( my mom is 60) of both my mom and I, and very knowledgeable, Mr. Jorge Castilla. I will be returning to Hotel Huasteca with my family, there is no doubt about it. They have exceeded my expectations! Finally, they even planned out a beautiful dinner for my mother and I on our last day, that we will never forget. We cried of joy we laughed. P.s My car had a flat tire, they helped find someone to fix it.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a vibrant green setting with onsite restaurant. The pool was too cold to use and the sound of birds was amazing although not if you plan to sleep in without ear plugs:) Love the little patio

Ciudad Valles is a good home base if you want to travel to the surrounding waterfall of Tamul. There is everything you would expect to find in a bigger city such as restaurants, bars, hospitals, etc. Many people stay here when traveling around to see the different waterfalls in the Huasteca region. I would recommend staying closer to whichever place you will be in, since it can be about 1-3 hour drive from Ciudad Valles to each different area; however.. some of these other areas are smaller towns and don’t have the things I mentioned previously. My favorite spot to stay in is Hostel Casa Huasteca, favorite place to eat is El Wacal, which is right around the corner from the hostel. Locals advise against going out at night.

Cascada El Salto is spectacular and unspoiled. Least commercial that we visited. Loved it! Plan ahead when ravelling to El Naranjo, there are very few accomodations (hotels, restaurants, gaz stations, etc) once you leave San Luis Potosí. Bring snacks & water with you.

Aquismon is a small town, not much to do there.

Aquismon is a small town, not much to do there. It was sort of dirty and not many places to eat. We had a bad experience and walked out of a restaurant across from the plaza. The tables were so dirty and the waiter had very dirty hands. But i HIGHLY recommend the pizza place by the plaza absolutely delicious, the fries, burgers and pizza so fresh and delicious. Obviously there's great outings like the waterfalls and rivers around and near the town to enjoy. Hotel Santa Lucia was a great experience in Aquismon

We were wondering whether we should visit Xilitla and now we are so glad we decided to go! Had a great time, would have regretted not going. Driving there and from is another experience, with winding roads in the mountains and beautiful scenery. Xilitla is a small but very busy village, with local food and very friendly people. Not too many tourists, amazing nature. The surrealist garden is also worth visiting.
