A perfect place to spend some time in Zuidlaren. Centrally located, spotlessly clean, good sized rooms, great breakfast, friendly and helpful owners - what more could you want? We loved our stay in Hoeve de Vredenhof. Zuidlaren is a great place to do some walking, cycling and bird watching. It has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from and great coffee. We will come back and stay at Hoeve de Vredenhof.

    Small hotel located in the center of a small country village. Hotel has a very nice restaurant. Super friendly staff. Dinner was good. Excellent breakfast, they inquire what you like to eat and bring what you wish to your table. Enough free parking area around the hotel. The single room no 1 is a bit small, but enough for a short stay. My bathroom was a modern new bathroom. Access stair to 1st floor is a bit steep, but for those in need there is an elevator chair. It was a warm summer night, but luckily my room had airco. Great location for hiking or biking.

    Marvellous place ! First, the prices are very much attractives ! The room was well arranged, with quality equipments. The building where the rooms are is appart from the castle but it doesn't matter the quality ! That second building is very welcoming with large meeting rooms and well decorated. Back to the castle itself, the restaurant is as warming as delicious ! You'll enjoy a drink of red wine with a piece of meat in front of the fire place ! And not forgetting the staff which is friendly and kind. I'll come back for sure !

    I recently stayed at this hotel and was genuinely pleased. The location is excellent, placing everything I needed within easy reach. The service was attentive, with the staff going out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay. I’d highly recommend booking here—especially for the remarkably comfortable mattresses. ;-)

Some parts of the city are particularly attractive: the forest 'Asser Bos' and the part of the city between that forest, the canel Drentse Hoofvaart, and the railway station.

    Emmen is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do.

    Emmen is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do. Wildlands is always worth a visit and seeing the hunebeds. The Atlas theatre always has something going on and worthwhile going to. Thijs and Co is a great place to eat and they often have live music. The Brasserie is another great place to eat with great food. Shops are also open on the last Sunday of the month so you can do extra shopping.

    Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe.

    Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe. Come here for a taste of the real Netherlands - well away from the tourists. There are a few museums, boats to look at (as everywhere!), lots of cafes and restaurants (don't miss Sardinia in the town square), but the best thing to do is just wander the streets soaking up the atmosphere.

    This area is absolutely beautiful!! The Hunabeden rocks are everywhere if you just go looking. Unfortunately the weather was terrible but we will return in summer to cycle some of the routes. The boards are amazing and cycle routes are numerous. Echt een aarader The restaurant in the Fletcher hotel was delicious. Good quality vs price and enough choices for every palate.

    We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition at the Drents. We had no other itinerary, other than to see the exhibition, and leave. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, engaging locals, and a pretty little town that is really easy to get around. We stayed the night, and were happy we did. An unforeseen highlight of our visit to Holland.

    The nature there is amazing!

    The nature there is amazing! So many green spaces 💚 I loved Het Appeltje:) Wildlands is a great park! Also there was an impressive street market on Tuesday. The vibe of the town is very chill and friendly! There are many good restaurants in the city centre :)

    Meppel is a quiet town located in bucolic surrounding.

    Meppel is a quiet town located in bucolic surrounding. Despite some bulk agribusiness on the outskirts, Meppel retains a pleasant pedestrianised centre. It is located on the long-distance cycle route LF9 and the spectacular village of Giethoorn is 35 mins cycling away. The De Weerribben-Wieden National Park borders the outskirts of the town and Dwingelderveld National Park is less than an hour away on the bike.

    I stayed there overnight, the entrance for the hotel I had trouble finding, but the receptionist came downstairs and helped me find the place. Great friendly staff, and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend to stay.

    A nice town with park, with a lots of terraces.

    A nice town with park, with a lots of terraces. We walked to the centre for dinner and it was smelling barbecue and that made my husband very happy. Train station, bus station, taxi. Easy to find parking space for your car.
