CanadaEverything was lovely and the views from the unit were amazing. Our bedroom was great with a comfortable king bed and great shower/bathroom. Everything was very clean and the hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. We were the only guest so had the common area to ourselves as well and enjoyed the excellent included continental breakfast. Highly recommend The Salty Bushman for your stay in The Catlins.

Fifteen minutes to the Point Nugget Lighthouse if you want to photograph it . Mike , the host is very friendly and helpful . Would stay again if in the area .

SingaporeExcellent stay! Kim and Katee were so kind and took the effort to show us around. We loved meeting the animals too. The bed was very comfortable that I felt like I was in a hotel! The views in the evenings and mornings were gorgeous. The place is a short drive to a Woolsworth and restaurants. 100% would recommend.

I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. Owaka is a small village, it has an excellent Inn especially for accommodation. The village has a small but well stocked supermarket, it has two restaurants and two cafes. It is quiet and peaceful. It is well located for visits to sites along the coast. Loads of wildlife to watch- we saw bellbirds, fantail, a yellow eyed penguin, sealions all within a few meters of where we were staying. We walked over to Jacks Blow hole following the doc track beside the accommodation. We were down for a School reunion but have previously visited sites such as McLean falls, Purakanui falls, Surat bay, Cannibal bay, Curio Bay, Horseshoe falls. All well worth a look around. Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips.
