- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 341 reviewsAbsolutely loved my stay with Marie and Serge. They were very warm and welcoming and were super helpful with any questions I had. The spa facilities were an amazing extra touch to this b&b. So dreamy to relax under a starry night sky in the hot tub after a long day and sweat everything off in the sauna. Very elaborate and delicious breakfast options. Would 100% recommend this lovely place in a beautiful location!!Guest review byMargotBelgium
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 230 reviewsThe Sandcastle is an amazing place. Staying there you could see and feel the amounts of love and attention it is built upon and run with. Steve is such a great host, so pleasant and welcoming. The property and cottages are so beautiful and cosy. I wish I had another week or more to stay there. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit to NZ, and recommended the place to my NZ family.Guest review byLihiIsrael
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 23 reviewsWe adored everything about this place, the view, the chalet, bathroom the breakfast basket delivered the night before. We cooked on the bbq quite a bit too. Loved we could do laundry freely after 5pm. The owners and staff were all super lovely too. It was spotlessly clean and really felt 5 star. We also really liked the area close to collingwood and farewell spit.Guest review byCatherine LopezUnited Kingdom

Spacious, excellent garden and facilities, excellently maintained, lots of privacy. Every small detail was thought of. Extra friendly owners, smiling and willing to help. Suggested to hold our luggage for the coming 3 days (we went hiking). Wish I vould give them more than 10....Guest review byTsvikaIsrael

Takaka is a fantastic location that gives good access to beaches all around the area, and the lovely Pupu Springs and Farwell Spit. The people in the town were lovely and friendly. We had the best vegetarian burgers, even better than our Ferg burgers from Queenstown! We all felt so safe and just enjoyed our time there. The drive over the Takaka Hill was a great experience, both in the misty rain and in beautiful sunshine.Guest review byTaemaro TravellerNew Zealand - 10.0
We love this beach - especially in winter!
We love this beach - especially in winter! It is also very close to some special places - Tata and Ligar Beaches, the Wainui Falls, the Grove Reserve and more - always something new to discover. Molly Bs is to be reccommended…and the cafes of Takaka are not far away.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0
Collingwood and out lying areas have some spectacular...
Collingwood and out lying areas have some spectacular scenery with very unique environments not found in other places of the world. If you want to learn some history about early NZ, this little place has bits of information signposted everywhere so forget about guessing who found the place or what kept the inhabitants there. Even the journey there from Nelson was interesting with multiple towns and side trips like Mapua, the entrance to the Abel Tasman Track, Kaiteriteri Beach, Pohara and Waipupu Springs walk which was wonderful, just to mention a couple of things we did.Guest review byChristine - 8.0
There are many places of interest near Parapara.
There are many places of interest near Parapara. Collingwood and Farewell Split are a few kilometers up the road. The other way, is Takaka, with its many shops and restaurants and Pohara. Beaches are close by.Guest review byALANNew Zealand - 10.0
We loved the north end of the beach, tata.
We loved the north end of the beach, tata. Lovely and sheltered, and very safe for kids to swim or play on rocks. Very friendly golden bay kayak company, to hire kayaks for a morning. Takaka was also a lovely town to walk around, good food, coffee, gifts and a market was on Saturday. Other than this, our time was too short in the area.Guest review byalettaNew Zealand - 10.0
Great spot near Takaka but in a natural setting.
Great spot near Takaka but in a natural setting. Comfortable studio unit with kitchen, dining lounge & bed all open plan. Well fitted out for a couple wanting a rustic retreat, The hosts Fiona and Frederick were superb . They presented the place in pristine condition and were very responsive when needed. Really tranquil & peaceful place with good flow in and out..Guest review byMurrayNew Zealand - 10.0

Great beach, and more good beaches nearby.
Great beach, and more good beaches nearby. Quiet summer holiday location that was still buzzing (in late Jan) with holiday-makers and had the comforts you might relish (local choices for bar & cafe & shop for groceries). A great place for a summer vacation.Guest review byMajor - 8.0

There is great scenery to be seen and some good walks nearby. Wharariki Beach is a favourite. Very dramatic rock formations, sea, sand dunes and seals. The Langford store is worth going to. Nice women with lovely homemade things to eat, drink and buy. Good collectables if that's what you like. Quirky and full of character. It is handy to longer and very scenic walks like Abel Tasman and Heaphy. I think some increased range of eating for vegetarians would be good. The Court House Cafe is particularly good for daytime food and coffee. The general store has most of what you need at reasonable prices. The Takaka Hill is a nice drive as long as you are a careful driver. Some clearly are not. Great views.Guest review byGeoffNew Zealand
