We loved hiking,so many trails to choose from. We took a trip to Milford Sound with Pure Milford which was amazing, we also went on the Shotover Canyon Jet boat trip which was also fabulous. Arrowtown is a beautiful location to visit or stay. The mountains and surrounding landscape are simply breathtaking. A superb choice of cafes and restaurants and great shops. It is a place in New Zealand you must visit. It is expensive so even if your budget only gives you 2 days stay you need to experience it. We (older) went skiing, Luge and gondola and river cruise. City is nestled inside crown mountain and other mountainous ranges. Amazing views from the city . Lots of attractions for everyone - kids, teens and adults . Only downside is expensive to stay long and most activities have high cost. Skyline gondola with luge rides and Deer park heights were the best attractions. We enjoyed driving to Glenorchy as well with many stunning locations to stop by and take beautiful photographs. It was our second visit and we stayed for two nights. The history, ambience, restaurants and cafes, architecture, layout and lack of fast food outlets makes Arrowtown so special. We will be back.
