Great location, wonderful owners, perfect for couples who want some privacy, excellent technology in the house making everything seamless and comfortable. We loved the bedding, the shower and all the small details that matter for a great stay! We stayed in Cottage 1 and could not fault it.
The staff were very friendly on check-in and were very helpful when we asked about the local area.
The bed was comfortable and the kitchen unit in the cottage was well equipped.

The scenery was just magical.
The scenery was just magical. Stunning colours, peaceful landscapes. The dark skies were incredible down at the church of the Good Shepherd. My camera picked up an aurora. Magnificent.
Trip up Mt John was really worth it. Amazing views but hold onto your hats!
One thing I disliked was that I have food allergies and most places were not prepared to assist me. I found it quite distressing. TLV was the exception and the meal, especially created for me was delicious.

Didn’t do much in Twizel itself as it was for us just a stopover on a long roadie, and we had been in the area before. But there is heaps to do and see within a short drive. We had our own food with us so didn’t eat out. The camp kitchen was great.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features.
We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

My wife and I really cannot rave about this retreat enough. The villas are exceptionally appointed and spacious. The environment is picturesque, tranquil and peaceful. The food provided in the villas and the meals cooked by the chef are truly delicious and guests individual tastes are catered for. The staff are very welcoming and friendly whilst ensuring that privacy is a key component of the experience. The villas could not be cleaner or more tastefully presented. We doubt anyone could be disappointed in their stay at this retreat.

The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning...
The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning features that I always come back to every time I get a quick visit at the Mackenzie. The main character was the icey blue Tekapo lake with snow capped southern alps as a beautiful backdrop. Enjoyed our minced pies and coffee over at Greedy Cow Cafe for breakfast. Such a dreamy place indeed!

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now.
My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography.
We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos.
Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them.
We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our
stay in Twizel.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.
