(Unusually the Balloon rides had been cancelled for 8 days running because of weather but we managed to get a place the first day it was available, all because of Serkan at Miras hotel - only for him I think we would have missed out on that once in a lifetime experience. The location, the staff, the pool, the breakfast and the restaurant in general exceeded all our expectations. Not to mention the authentic cave rooms that were very spacious and meticulously decorated. If I would go back to Kapadokya I would stay at Kayakapi again. We have already given recommendations to all our friends and family. If you decide to stay here you should not miss trying the Testi Kebab, a local Kapadokya dish, at the hotel restaurant. The room was spotless, big with the seating area and fireplace, the bed comfortable - had a very good sleep. We went to their spa, too and I can recommend it! It was very good and the girls there was very kind. After check out we could leave our luggage on the reception and use the hotel facilities. Ortahisar is a beautiful little town. It’s quite quiet but a short taxi ride into slightly busier Goreme. I’m glad we stayed in Ortahisar though as it was much more relaxing and quaint. Hisarönü Restaurant was our favourite place to eat - fantastic food, lovely Cappadocian wine and shisha. We even got given a free slice of cake as it was the owners birthday. It is a lovely small town next to Goreme (famous for the hot air balloon rides and pointed rock structures) so its a short ride away with none of the hustle and bustle of a touristy town. It has many local restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, to eat at without breaking the bank. There is a promenade with on the river with jungle gyms and play areas for little kids. I was surprised by how overly "tourist-y" Goreme was. The restaurants didn't offer traditional Turkish food, everything was very overpriced, the whole town came across as flashy and overdone to me. Beautiful and quiet place. Less busy and less expensive than Georme. Locations near Uçhisar castle is very lively but rule is same. closer your stay to main hub costly and busier it gets.
