Serkan at the hotel made our holiday amazing, helping with arranging transport and any help with trips or advice we needed. (Unusually the Balloon rides had been cancelled for 8 days running because of weather but we managed to get a place the first day it was available, all because of Serkan at Miras hotel - only for him I think we would have missed out on that once in a lifetime experience. Ortahisar is a beautiful little town. It’s quite quiet but a short taxi ride into slightly busier Goreme. I’m glad we stayed in Ortahisar though as it was much more relaxing and quaint. It is a lovely small town next to Goreme (famous for the hot air balloon rides and pointed rock structures) so its a short ride away with none of the hustle and bustle of a touristy town. It has many local restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, to eat at without breaking the bank. There is a promenade with on the river with jungle gyms and play areas for little kids. I was surprised by how overly "tourist-y" Goreme was. The restaurants didn't offer traditional Turkish food, everything was very overpriced, the whole town came across as flashy and overdone to me. Beautiful and quiet place. Less busy and less expensive than Georme. Locations near Uçhisar castle is very lively but rule is same. closer your stay to main hub costly and busier it gets.
