The atmosphere was amazing and so relaxing. The hotels was superb and one of the best hotels in Cappadocia. Don’t miss the balloon’s trip, it worth the experience, you can find several tourism offices so close and walking distance from the hotel, check the differences between them before you decide which one to go for. Ortahisar is a beautiful little town. It’s quite quiet but a short taxi ride into slightly busier Goreme. I’m glad we stayed in Ortahisar though as it was much more relaxing and quaint. Hisarönü Restaurant was our favourite place to eat - fantastic food, lovely Cappadocian wine and shisha. We even got given a free slice of cake as it was the owners birthday. It is a lovely small town next to Goreme (famous for the hot air balloon rides and pointed rock structures) so its a short ride away with none of the hustle and bustle of a touristy town. It has many local restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, to eat at without breaking the bank. There is a promenade with on the river with jungle gyms and play areas for little kids. GOREME is a great little place , with loads to do . We did plenty of walking , but the highlight is definitely the balloon ride , an experience of a lifetime . The only thing i didn’t like about GOREME , is the prices of food and drink , it’s ridiculously expensive compared to the rest of Turkiye , even Istanbul is a fraction of the cost . Be careful also when booking the air balloon trip , the initial price will be inflated, also book it nearer the time , as we were lucky . We booked it Saturday for the Sunday , the following 3 days flights were cancelled. Beautiful and quiet place. Less busy and less expensive than Georme. Locations near Uçhisar castle is very lively but rule is same. closer your stay to main hub costly and busier it gets.
