Location! At the side of city centre, which means away from the hustle bustle of the city centre but it is a very convenient location. There are few eateries for breakfast and we had a great Taiwanese dinner at Fu Gong Happiness Restaurant which is a short walk from the hotel. There is also a laundry just adjacent to the hotel.

The hotel was clean throughout. The staff were very friendly. The room was very good with a good bathroom. There was enough space for our clothes. The restaurant was good. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Again the staff were great, the food good and a good price. We didn't eat anywhere else. We would definitely use the hotel again.

This hotel was amazing. The theme/decor was so fun and everything was meticulously clean. There were snacks provided in the lobby along with hot and cold water which was perfect for evening snacking and ramen runs. Tons of comfy seating. We were even able to take bikes out for free which allowed us to head to the beach one afternoon. Entertainment on a large projector in the lobby as well Thank you Rhino for the clean room! Huge bed in the double room, nice bathroom. We slept so well here.

    Free shuttle from & to Hualien Station(advance reservation necessary). Hotel is very wide (lobby to guestrooms, free shuttle available) and with variety of facillities (some cost extra charge), personally times would be a little bit tight for only one night stay even if before check-in & after check-out facilities are still available for use. Rooms are all with balcony (garden & river view), very wide, with everything more than enough. Poolside is fantastic in both day & night time, lifeguards are there who are all polite and friendly. Still, there are pools with warm water (around 40 degrees), not any problems in winter season. Canal's cruising boat takes guests to see through the hotel (go around), boatmans (some are female) would like to give guests a guide patiently through the whole cruise. And also, around 22:00, they run the final boat (not allowed on board) with music speaker, saying good night to everybody. Restaurant is small a bit considering they have such huge amount of guestrooms, it results in that dinner time being seperated into two parts...might be a little bit shameful as they offered many kinds of cuisines, hopefully longer time for dinner would be suggested. But even if we did it over time, staff in the restaurant were all nice and did not push us in a hurry at all. Breakfast time until 12:00 which is quite an excellent service as guests are able to spend the leisure time until around 11:00 (final check-out time), then go for breakfast after check-out. We planned to do this originally but could hardly hire a shuttle to lobby for doing check-out first (around 11:00 is a rush hour for check-out, cars are not enough at all) . However they let us to keep our luggages and room key, go enjoy our late morning time first, back at around 12:15, then they offered a shuttle, gave us a ride to lobby for check-out. Well they do have flexibilities no matter how their policy defines, unfoegettable customer services.

    We really enjoyed our stay at Before Sunrise B&B. Everything was very clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Jane was so welcoming and friendly. It's easy to see why this property is so highly rated. We were given a list of the best food stalls to visit at the nearby Dongdamen Night Market - which were all SO good! The air-conditioning in the room was great (it was so hot during our visit and the room stayed nice and cool). Waka the Hotel dog is also very cute and loves a pat. The breakfast was amazing! A selection of tea, coffee, juices and freshly prepared meals which were different each day. We had to leave earlier one morning for a trip to Taroko Gorge and they were kind enough to pack our breakfast to take with us so we didn't miss our bus. Thanks so much for making our visit to Hualien so memorable. We'd love to come back and visit again.

    The room was very charming, clean and comfortable with water, coffee and tea at disposal. The balcony and the view provide sweet relaxing moments. The beach nearby is peaceful and beautiful.     Sleepy scenic town with some really cool cafes and restaurants. Airy , non crowded night market with lots of games and options for food. Even without Taroko fully open after the earthquake , Hualien is a great stop over for the scenic East Coast of Taiwan.

    It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from...

    It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from comparing to HuaLiang which is 18KM south of XinCheng. But, this town is also 18 KM closer to Taroko National Park. I highly recommend "Memories Homestay" for your overnight accommodation. It has the best CP value.

    This is my second visit to Hualien City.

    This is my second visit to Hualien City. It was good to get to know the area better. Although I spent the majority of my time at Dong Awa University, I was able to visit the Stone Museum and the Slow Food centre.

    Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge.

    Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge. Although spectacular, the access limitations imposed since the last major earthquake made our travel almost a non-event. Be aware, the visitor centre is closed, 2nd Monday each month, grrr.
