Check in extremely rapid and concise. Staff very diligent and able to communicate in English even if difficult at times, there is an overall willingness. Room was amazing large, clean…. like an operating theatre with coffee making facilities, a minibar and excellent WiFi connectivity. Hotel can organise excursions like whale watching. Don’t forget to use the spinning room equipped with tea and coffee machines and even ice making facilities. On the second floor one can find a laundry room and lessive is free of charge. Breakfast starts early at 6am which is most welcoming, if like me, an early riser. A wide choice is available including real coffee and options for vegetarians, like me. Menu changes daily. Everything was very clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Jane was so welcoming and friendly. It's easy to see why this property is so highly rated. We were given a list of the best food stalls to visit at the nearby Dongdamen Night Market - which were all SO good! The air-conditioning in the room was great (it was so hot during our visit and the room stayed nice and cool). Waka the Hotel dog is also very cute and loves a pat. The breakfast was amazing! A selection of tea, coffee, juices and freshly prepared meals which were different each day. We had to leave earlier one morning for a trip to Taroko Gorge and they were kind enough to pack our breakfast to take with us so we didn't miss our bus. Cannot think of a better way to relax. Also, there are small tubs with hot spring water. You can dip yourself in the hot bath then move to the cold water in the pool, back and forth. The room, honeymoon studio, was outstanding. The shower room had a small window to a private garden allowing us to watch birds while showering. There was also a nice bathtub. The free cosmetics and hair dryer were really top notch. The fridge was daily refilled with courtesy drinks including Taiwanese beer and tasty complimentary snacks were also provided. They quickly helped give me directions for parking, suggestions for the night market, were proactive to open the elevator doors and answer my questions. Their service was fast and it seems like the hotel really takes care of its guests. I traveled with a young kid, so the children's playroom with slide was especially nice to have. There wasn't a lot in the playroom but my son still loved it. Also booked a separate room for my mother, and she finally could get a good nights rest after being jetlagged from a long flight. It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from comparing to HuaLiang which is 18KM south of XinCheng. But, this town is also 18 KM closer to Taroko National Park. The owners of Ubus B&B 箼篰斯民宿 are some of the nicest people I have met in Taiwan and I already lived here for little over a year. She and her friend are local Taroko natives. The second that we entered her B&B she gave us drip coffee and steamed bamboo with rice. I took my partner and my mom here, they both loved how comfortable the place is. We booked the two double bed (around 4545 NTD, a little over 130), but it included breakfast and snacks. Not only that, but she took both my partner and I to Taroko Shakandang Trail, picked us up on the way back, waited for us to get food at 7/11, AND the following day took us to the train station out of pure kindness. Since we had to leave early we did not have breakfast, so she gave us a bit of money back covering the breakfast! Its been a long time since I met someone with that amount of kindness. The day that we left, my partner forgot her apple watch, and the NEXT DAY she sent via mail to our place. She never asked for money in return and we are grateful. Definitely coming back some time in the future. The facility is clean, the shower is big and comfortable, the kitchen has all types of utilities (air fryer, microwave, coffee makers, wifi, etc). Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge. Although spectacular, the access limitations imposed since the last major earthquake made our travel almost a non-event. Be aware, the visitor centre is closed, 2nd Monday each month, grrr.Guest review byBrianNew Zealand
