Lots to see and do - with kids or without kids.
Lots to see and do - with kids or without kids. You can spend hours shopping the outlet malls, visiting Amish stores for delicious food items, gifts, crafts, furniture, etc. It's a very quaint area with a lot of charm and is a great place to bring your kids to expose them to another culture (Amish) and way of life. There are tons of things to do with small kids - especially visiting farms, petting and feeding the animals, taking a horse and buggy ride, etc. Within easy driving distance, there are fun museums where you can go aboard trains and other places where you can ride an old-fashioned train. In the summer months, you can enjoy miniature golf, ice cream shops, etc. On this particular trip, our family visited the Mennonite Visitor Center to learn more about the Amish/Mennonite Community and visit the Biblical Tabernacle Experience. Then we saw a show at Sight & Sound, which my kids always love - especially as Sight & Sound frequently has trained live animals making their way up and down the main aisles as part of the show. Sight & Sound always puts on a spectacular show. In terms of food, there a tons of great restaurants to visit in the area - from all-you-can-eat buffets with home-cooked comfort food to familiar chain restaurants like Cracker Barrel and Olive Garden to upscale gourmet restaurants with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Essentially, you've got just about everything you could want at your fingertips, depending on whether you are with fussy, small children or you are on a romantic getaway with your loved one or you and your friends just want to explore the area. My family always enjoys visiting this part of the United States, and we are sure you will too.Guest review byRachelUnited States - 6.0
Sundays and Mondays were not the best days to be in the area...
Sundays and Mondays were not the best days to be in the area, as many places are closed. It was my birthday but a lot of restaurants were closed until Tuesday. We drove around and made a list of things to do on our next trip...not on a Sunday or Monday...lol We went to Dutch Apple Dinner and saw The Buddy Holly Story. It was wonderful and the food was great. That was our only highlight this trip.Guest review byDemitriousUnited States - 10.0
The pool was good therapy.
The pool was good therapy. A hot breakfast with quite a few options compared to most hotel breakfasts. Alcohol available to purchase. Room clean, spacious and comfortable. Some excellent diners near by.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Nice place.
Nice place. Interestingly, their "Amish" are EXTREMELY MODERN AND WEALTHY when compared to the Amish of Palatine Township, Montgomery County, New York. The train Museum is lovely. The surrounding farms are as modern, fertile, and productive as those of Central Nebraska. GORGEOUS SECENRY!Guest review byFortPlankHistorianUnited States - 10.0
A lot of the places we went to were very close.
A lot of the places we went to were very close. We loved the train ride and the train museum. We also went to Barry's Car Barn- there were so many antique cars it was amazing to see all the shiny cars! We ate at the Coffin and Bube's restaurants. We went to the Village and ate at the cafe and went to all the little shops there too! It was beautiful week! the atmosphere was perfect, seeing the horse and buggy's the Amish folks rode and gave people a ride in them. We went to antique stores and bought a few items that were on our hunt!Guest review byAnonymous - 4.0
We had 2 queen beds because they didn't have a king size bed...
We had 2 queen beds because they didn't have a king size bed. I think $150 was too much for this place because it smelled like mold and the beds were worn out. My bed had a big dip in it and made noises when I got in and out of it. Oh by the way.....I'm an average size woman. It was so loud that my husband heard it over our fan that we brought to drown out noises. it kept my husband up and he couldn't sleep. The room was clean but the place needed more updating. It also took us several attempts to use the key to open the door because it wouldn't work.Guest review byTammy - 10.0
My husband and I enjoyed visiting Lititz.
My husband and I enjoyed visiting Lititz. We toured the Johannes Mueller House, walked around town to see the historic homes, and went to the park. We went to Wilbur's for some chocolate, and perused many of the quaint shops. We had a fabulous breakfast at the Tomato Pie Cafe, and a terrific dinner at the Lititz Pizza Company. It was a very enjoyable weekend away!Guest review byGinaUnited States - 10.0
I came to Intercourse for the Amish Village and only for one...
I came to Intercourse for the Amish Village and only for one night, so I didn't have time to discover Intercourse. But I managed to walk to Olde Mill Restaurant for dinner. I liked Waltz Vineyard apple Crisp wine so much, I brought home two bottles. Seeing Amish horse buggies riding down the road in front of the inn where I stayed was nice.Guest review byDariaUnited States - 10.0
This is centrally located to all attractions.
This is centrally located to all attractions. We were very close to Sight and Sound Theater. A map was provided which really helped us find anything and everything we wanted or needed. We ate meals at 2 buffets nearby. We toured the Amish shops. This was our first time in this area. We will definitely return.Guest review byPatriciaUnited States - 2.0
