Ironwood is a great place to spend a few days many hiking trails and cool waterfalls, short staffed in many restaurants made it more difficult to find places to eat but this is happening in many areas. Ironwood is definitely worth exploring. I went to the area twice this past year and each time explored something different. I do not ski but the area looked like it would be a very fun place for a winter ski trip or a snowmobiling trip.Guest review byMargaretUnited States - 8.0
Very beautiful area. Also just a short trip to MI and MN.
Very beautiful area. Also just a short trip to MI and MN. We did Yooper rock hunting a couple nights at Black River Harbour & Little Girl Point, which was very fun. Lots and lots of waterfall hikes within 50 miles of Ashland. Even though it was rainy when we went, we had a great time. Would definitely recommend taking a Ferry to Madeline island. I would take a vehicle over, its quite a distance to walk or bike around the island. Definitely check out Big Bay Lagoon on Madeline island. Beautiful hike on a board walk around Lake Superior. So pretty!! Would have definitely toured the islands, but it was too cold and rainy the week we were there.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
This hotel was ok for an over night stay.
This hotel was ok for an over night stay. It was very basic. The room was clean but the old window air conditioning unit was very loud and did NOT cool the room efficiently. The bedding was thin, not cozy at all. The location was nice, close to the marina and the water. The coffee bar was nice. We opted not to eat at the restaurant close to the hotel as the food was expensive, we wondered down the closed Main Street and ate at Patsy’s and it was very good. This worked great for visiting the Apostle Islands.Guest review byandrea - 10.0
Quaint & fun little town.
Quaint & fun little town. Great jumping off point for the Apostle Islands. A lot of driving from MSP for a weekend excursion (prior to a work trip in Minnesota), but very happy I did it! I would return.Guest review byDirk - 10.0

My Dad built a cabin on Spider Lake near Mercer in the early 50s,, that my sister still owns today,,therefore I am a lifelong fan of the area, having grown up spending most of my summers there, our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews also love the area .. only drawback I currently live in NC so it’s a long trip back but worth it.. the businesses and their employees are all very friendly. Thanks “SPIDER JOE”Guest review bySeifert - 2.0
Do not book a room here at Rodeway.
Do not book a room here at Rodeway. My wife got covid so we made the responsible decision to cancel our reservation. We did make any expenses for Rodeway and I asked Rodeway not to charge us for the cancellation but Rodeway was very rude/unprofessional and would not cancel the charges.Guest review byCraig - 8.0

well you need to find a place to eat dinner there early because the places close early, like 8 p.m. El Charro Mexican restaurant is good in Ashland. We also ate at a Pub and Pizza place not far from the AmericInn that has sandwiches as well as pizza. Stay away from the Family Restaurant.Guest review byBetseyUnited States - 8.0
Washburn is a pretty little town with none of over...
Washburn is a pretty little town with none of over commercialization that has unfortunately happened in Bayfield. It is a great option to staying in Bayfield. Bayfield is still nice but it is not the pretty quiet town it was in the 1970's. The people that live in the Washburn /Bayfiled area are kind and friendly. Not all the visitors are. Some are snobby The pandemic has unfortunately had a negative affect on some of the businesses in the area. There still is a lot to do and see and it still is as beautiful. It is still a great area to visit and worth the time and money to come to.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States - 6.0
The boat tour was fun.
The boat tour was fun. The Rittenhouse sucked and was overpriced. Dinner at the Bayfield Inn was misleading. 4 scallops fit on a tablespoon and a weird tasting tiny steak for over 50 bucks. We asked to sit at an open table by the window and denied , even though they don't take reservations. We stopped at a couple local pubs and had a great time there.Guest review byRogerUnited States - 4.0
Mercer apoears hard hit economically.
Mercer apoears hard hit economically. They are unable to accommodate travelers needs for meals. With so few dining options, plus for sale signs on several, this small town is well situated in lakes area but visitors need a full hskpg set up. Be ready to cook own meals & don't take for granite upkeep will please even simple needs such as a place for trash & wet towels.Guest review byKatherine
