Neil and Deb contacted us the morning of our stay to make sure we has all the check in info. When we arrive it was easy to find and very close to Burlington. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare a nice meal, living room had comfortable furniture and a warm beautiful fireplace. The patio outside had a firetable which we would have loved to use if it wasn't raining, they even gave us mini smore kits for it! The king size bed was comfortable and the bedroom was spacious. The bathroom had a beautiful huge luxurious soaker tub with rainfall style shower, the bath was so nice it felt like a spa treatment! The views were amazing too! Well, I was a bit disappointed in the surrounding city...
Well, I was a bit disappointed in the surrounding city environments. The cityscape seemed disorganized and in desperate need of a more aesthetic appeal.. I rode through residential areas which I found to be most disheleved. Maybe because I am a retired educator I found the University area very uplifting, My reason for coming to Vermont has always been during the Fall Foliage season. I've beento the touristy areas at least 5 times and mostly stay at The Lodge of Spruce Peak in Stowe, VT. However, let me add The Lodge at Spruce Peak paled in comparison to the Hilton in Burlington. Winooski is a convenient place to stay based on the ease of driving into Burlington, which only takes 10 minutes. Had a lovely breakfast at Sneakers Bistro and a good lunch at Asian Bistro. I loved downtown Burlington, especially the pedestrian-only street and the selection of stores. We had lunch at Splash on the waterfront and just loved how close it was to the water. We visited the Shelburne museum one day and the Shelburne Farm the next day and found both fascinating and beautiful. Awesome city!
Awesome city! Low key friendly atmosphere and proximate to lots of wonderful family fun. From Stowe to Waterbury to the waterfront in Burlington itself we had a wonderful time seeing scenic views of the mountains and breathtaking Lake Champlain, visiting farms, engaging in tastings of syrup, cheese and cider! We milked cows, observed a cider press, and e biked along Lake Champlain. We toured Ben and Jerry's and had samples. Yum. Gondola rides, drives up the mountain as well as a boat ride along Lake Champlain and even a day trip to Ausable Chasm in the Adirondacks of NY state, for hiking and raft ride through the canyon were all marvelous. Such a relaxing atmosphere. Dont miss Vergennes also and go see the dam. Visited Farmer's market on Grand Isle at St Johns also great..check out Phoebe's Lemonade stand and Eighty 9 catering for crepes. Yummy! Not enough room to recommend everything. Just go to Burlington and read the brochures and stop at a visitor center for recommendations. Simply Marvelous.Guest review byCelesteUnited States
