One of the best beach hotel in Big Island in the heart of Kona. The beach is small but clean and is connected to the hotel, almost unique experience in the USA. There is a 1 mile long beach walk with lot of good restaurants. The excellent submarine trip goes directly from the hotel.

Spacious condo with everything you might need including wonderful ocean views and a great shared pool and very helpful hosts. A few top quality roadside stalls near to for bread flowers and excellent Burritos. The day we left we sat on the balcony (huge) looking at the sea and just wished we had a few more days.

Staying at Mango sunset is the absolute amazing highlight of our trip in big island. 5 star experience! Location: it’s 10 minutes drive from airport. There is a short drive way from highway to the Airbnb, we don’t have cars, but all uber drivers have no problem driving uphill. View and environment: the house is located near a coffee farm and on the top of a small hill, so you will have an absolute fantastic view of sunset. It is surrounded by coffee trees and fruit trees and you can find chickens running around. You are living in the original natural kingdom, very different from staying at a standard hotel. Their cat Melisa is also cute! Condition: the room is nice and clean, you can find everything like microwave, fridge etc. you need. It’s also safe and quiet, especially in the night. They use Starlink for internet, so even if the location is away from busy area, you have stable and free minternet which is important for me. Host: the best part of mango sunset is the host couple: Heidi and Dan. They are kind, professional, funny and welcoming. You can see from the small ukulele on the wall to a flower on the table that they both love life and want the guests to feel like home. Heidi every morning will make guests her homemade breakfast. All the foods are grown from their farm. You can’t find any similar amazing food anywhere else. In one early morning we have tour needs to leave early, Heidi even wakes up at 6am and made a ham&cheese sandwich for us to take! Dan is responsible for maintain everything neat and smooth. The water pressure has some issue and he fixed it immediately! I can’t say any better words for the host. They are absolutely extraordinary! Overall, the mango sunset makes our trip unforgettable experience! Highly recommend! I will definitely return if I get any chance to visit big island again!

It was truly the most magical place, from the driveway to the entrance to the rest of the hotel. Everyone was kind and helpful without being too much. It was big however the service felt intimate. One of the most incredible places I have ever stayed.

Hi, all in all the appartment the view and everything was perfect also very easy to get in the appartment with the code. But the day before we checked in the hotel gave me a hard time because of my service dog and this was not ok. They stressed me the whole day about it even I let them know I bring my device dog 3 weeks or more in advance. And then out of a sudden I don’t receive a message back and I came to big island with a usury feeling if we are welcome at the resort or not. This was not ok everything else was very good!

Spacious, well-equipped apartment with a big balcony overlooking a golf course in a beautiful resort complex. Oceanfront property without access to the ocean due to the rocky coastline, but it has two pool areas, one right on the coast with stunning views and sunsets. Great location, close to the two harbours servicing manta dive and snorkel excursions - an unforgettable experience no one should miss! Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Kilauea are a bit far off, but the Big Island is big...:)

The location is stellar. You are near beaches, coffee, shopping, bike rental, bars, and cafes. It is a great base for fun bike rides. You can stroll 6 minutes to a beach, rent a snorkel set, and just walk into the water to see scores of colorful fish along a reef. The staff also keep the grounds of the Kona Islander immaculate. The walkways, gardens, pool, grill areas, seating -- all are kept in tip-top shape.

As a Big Island resident, I think Kona is over rated and overpriced for what it is. I think it looks like a strip mine with some beaches. Ali'i drive shops has many vacancies. I think other parts of the island have more to offer in beauty, scenery and temperature which is why I don't live in Kona.

Captain Cook is a spread-out sort of a place so it's difficult to characterise. There is an excellent pizza place there and a couple of other restaurants plus a supermarket and gas station. You can get down to the coast, but it's a steep walk. The coastline down there is beautiful.

Quiet beauty and comfort and within a reasonable driving distance of many beautiful beaches, and sights, and activities. My favorite beach was in the neighborhood to the north, a 15 minute easy hike from a public park. Loved the privacy and beauty there. Loved Kua beach, the farmers markets in Waimea, Gecko Girlz Shave Ice in Kona, and Volcano National Park. Enjoyed Lau Lau restaurant about 10 miles toward Kona, and many different beaches with waves and/or snorkeling.

If you desire to experience the true essence of Hawaii, staying at Serenity Hale is a MUST!!! From the frog chorus at night to the amazing view from the lanai, the cleanliness, spaciousness, all the extra amenities (including kitchen items & snorkeling gear), location within a reasonable distance to many activities on the island. . . . Serenity Hale has it all! Our host, Jim, was MORE than accommodating! He only desires the best for his guests, & having served as a concierge previously, he does an amazing job of keeping you happy, active, & safe! He provides soooo many suggestions & helpful tips! Wish we could stay longer! Would not hesitate to stay here again! Mojo, the pup, is an added benefit to make you feel right at home during your stay!

Captain Cook is a lovely area - but don't count on actual beaches as in lots of sand! There is lava everywhere and people simply snorkel or body surf around it. There are a couple of small pockets of sand. Check out the cloud forest up in the hills, simply a hiking area that may mist more often than lower down. I've heard you can see sea turtles and dophins if you go early enough down to the bay, but otherwise there's a much nicer place to view the turtles, at least, north of the Kona airport, and at any time of day. The only long beach is by a hotel north of the airport. And anywhere on the Big Island, there is lava! So.Much.Lava!

Beautiful home on quiet street with a great view!

Beautiful home on quiet street with a great view! Great access to nearby beach, tho the beach is rocky. Secluded snorkeling and swimming. Home has everything you would need for a relaxing private stay, but you need to be aware that groceries and toiletries are NOT nearby, so plan accordingly. Almost any condiment you would need is there, but you should do your grocery shopping on the way there, so you can relax on the lovely lanai and watch the sunset over a glass of wine when you get there and get settled. Home has a nice assortment of 'play toys' for days at the beach available for use. Wifi is ok, tho a bit spotty and we had some trouble connecting at first, but owners are very helpful via text in getting that corrected. Quiet hours strictly enforced and neighbors are close, so any sounds carry very easily outdoors. Road down to the home is windy and steep, so if you're not used to driving this kind of road, it can be a bit disconcerting, but we found it to be a fun road (from Colorado) to navigate.
