Neil and Deb contacted us the morning of our stay to make sure we has all the check in info. When we arrive it was easy to find and very close to Burlington. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare a nice meal, living room had comfortable furniture and a warm beautiful fireplace. The patio outside had a firetable which we would have loved to use if it wasn't raining, they even gave us mini smore kits for it! The king size bed was comfortable and the bedroom was spacious. The bathroom had a beautiful huge luxurious soaker tub with rainfall style shower, the bath was so nice it felt like a spa treatment! The views were amazing too! Well, I was a bit disappointed in the surrounding city environments. The cityscape seemed disorganized and in desperate need of a more aesthetic appeal.. I rode through residential areas which I found to be most disheleved. Maybe because I am a retired educator I found the University area very uplifting, My reason for coming to Vermont has always been during the Fall Foliage season. I've beento the touristy areas at least 5 times and mostly stay at The Lodge of Spruce Peak in Stowe, VT. However, let me add The Lodge at Spruce Peak paled in comparison to the Hilton in Burlington. We met with the worst ever experience at this place. We were given a key card of a room which was already occupied. Then upon request we were given a room with one king size bed and a small bed which was small and uncomfortable. Plenty of options to do! Boating, hiking, resturants, ICE CREAM, and favorite spot Isle la Motte, St Anne's Shrine for Sunday outdoor mass, beautiful grounds along the lake to enjoy! Winooski is a convenient place to stay based on the ease of driving into Burlington, which only takes 10 minutes. Had a lovely breakfast at Sneakers Bistro and a good lunch at Asian Bistro. If you are in to discovering the delights of small towns/ cities, Vergennes more than meets your expectation. For a small town, it has a lot of local artisan shops and restaurants, there are are nice clothes stores where you can shop. I was delighted to see all the State parks which I was looking forward to visit on my trip. For someome who lives in a big city, Vergennes is a beautiful contrast. It has a laidback, quiet charm that is restful and relaxing, unpretentious yet it has an air of class and culture too. If you are looking to destress from the humdrum of work, and if you love outdoor activities like hiking (we did Mount Snake but there are also other hiking places nearby), camping and fishing, Vergennes is a perfect getaway.Guest review byMayUnited States - 10.0

Westport is a small quiet residential Lake Champlain hamlet on LC's shore in NY. Note however....As of this writing there was no convenience type store in town, nor was there a gas station. I loved downtown Burlington, especially the pedestrian-only street and the selection of stores. We had lunch at Splash on the waterfront and just loved how close it was to the water. We visited the Shelburne museum one day and the Shelburne Farm the next day and found both fascinating and beautiful.
