We had supper at 555 and it was top shelf. We had the chef’s selection and left the choices to our wait staff with the choices. She did an amazing job as every bite was delicious! And the wine as well as was paired so well.

Brilliant central location with safe place for our car. Wonderful staff particually Nicole at the front desk. She was professional and she was so kind and like a friend helping us with places to dine and things to visit. The room was HUGE and well set up. I was thrilled that finally a large hotel in USA had sustainabile iniatives such as not plastic water bottles, cups etc packing. There was a note they had glass bottles for us to use to fill with water and aice machine on every level which we used and the water tasted good.

The location was great, lots of places to walk to. The staff were very nice, approachable, and they were just the right amount of social. Little touches like having small snacks available at breakfast, lots of extra towels and linen go a long way with me and so that was great.

FAQs about hotels in Maine

Stunning Nature And Delicious Seafood

Known as the Pine Tree State, Maine is the easternmost state in the New England region of the United States, famous for its beautiful landscape, delicious seafood and romantic lighthouses. With the Appalachian Mountains to the north and the Atlantic Coast to the south, this state offers plenty to see and do.

Most cities concentrate along the coastline, including the state’s biggest and most popular, Portland. Known for a high concentration of independent shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants, Portland offers ferry and lobster cruises, fun for the whole family.

From Portland, you can visit Augusta, the state capital or Lewiston, an industrial town with plenty of historic buildings. North-east from Augusta there is Bangor, a popular commercial and cultural centre, built along Maine’s main road, the Interstate-95.

Maine is one of the least populous states in the USA, giving you a perfect opportunity to explore its wilderness and admire picturesque scenery. Follow the last stage of the famous Appalachian Trail with its grand finale, the Mount Katahdin or visit the Acadia National Park, spreading across a few islands off the Atlantic coast.

Whether you’re looking to stay along the coastline and enjoy Maine’s famous lobsters, or up north, closer to the mountains and never-ending forests, Booking.com has a great offer for you. Choose from beach hotels to accommodation with hot tubs and indoor pools.

Bar Harbor is a comfortable tourist town, plenty of shopping and dining options. It has a friendly, welcoming feel. It feels safe day or night. We enjoyed some excellent meals here! Cherrystones has a fabulous lobster BLT. Testa's has lobster tacos that were phenomenal. Galyn's Maine Combination features lobster, scallops, a delicious crab cake, broccoli, rice pilaf and a garlic aioli dipping sauce to die for. Stay away from the Indian pudding for dessert, though, it's a runny, warm, odd-tasting brown stew. Plenty of better dessert options on their menu. Don't miss the Pink Pastry Shop! They make a terrific iced latte, the Maine Mud Square is a chocolate lover's delight and the cupcakes are wonderful. Really friendly folks, too!

We love the area and specifically the beach — at low tide you can walk for miles. And the Marginal Way walk is lovely but can get crowded in peak seasons. Beach is beautiful but cold, perfect for bodysurf with the kids! The most difficult in Old Orchard Beach is to select a good hotel, since a couple of years the price are very expensive and you need to pay a couple of hundreds dollars/night. In high season the low price motel are mostly outdated and disgusting, it's very frustrating to pay 300-400$/night for a motel who are normally a 75$/night motel.

Hotels/Inns/Resorts... the list goes on.. busy as expected. Still, easy enough travelling up and down Wells, Ogunquit, York... 'the strip' has many stores, restaurants, and , of course, accommodations. The one complaint: I guess people don't eat on Mondays or Tuesdays... that, and breakfast specialties aren't a 'thing'. We did find food, and, of course, breakfast... but several 'suggested stops' open for the week on Wednesday (not helpful on a Tuesday). And, after travel, many of the places that were open, closed for the night at 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm... I get it, Tuesday is not a 'hot' night, but 'in season' dining AT 7:00 is not a rare thing - now maybe these places SERVED until 7-8:00 but I took that many places CLOSE then, and you can't 'storm the door' at that time, and expect service.

The mall was great, build a bear was a huge hit so was funtown splashtown and the huge arcade In the mall. The pier in old orchard is also a huge hit. You can find restaurants on the ocean and eat your lobster outside with a beautiful view.

We had breakfast two mornings at The Red Cup, an order at the window spot right downtown (I recommend the grilled cheese with bacon). It's right across from the very clean public restrooms. The bookstore was wonderful. Dinner at the Thistle Inn was terrific. And there was an amazing shoe store near the breakfast place. All of it in view of the harbor.
