The room was huge. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was fabulous - this hotel is part of the island entertainment and shopping area. Our riverview room was quiet with a restful balcony over the river. Relaxing is actively encouraged, including around the fireplace in the lobby.

Pigeon Forge is like a small entertainment town...

Pigeon Forge is like a small entertainment town concentrating on country vibes (think Orlando, Florida on a much smaller scale). It was a lot of fun. If you stay on Highway (main street), you can walk to most attractions and restaurants. "The Island" is a small amusemdnt park with free parking and entry. There are a few rides, a lake with a fountain, restaurants, souvenir shops and dinosaurs (my favorite part). There is a transit center where you can park your car for free and for $3, purchase a ticket for a hop on/hop off trolley to different sections of Pigeon Forge including Dollywood. At the same station you can catch a trolley for $1 to Gatlinsburg and then take take the Gatlinsburg trolley around for free.

Cherokee is a must visit for any reason, the scenery is absolutely stunning and was surprisingly less packed than what I had figured with the time of year. The outdoor drama Unto These Hills is worth going, it was absolutely beautiful and would go back to see it again. The Branded Cattle Steakhouse and Native Brews Tap & Grill were both on hour long waits, and both menus looked great, but we were too hungry and opted for Burger King. I was with my best friend and family but would be just as great to have spent with a partner. Happy Traveling

Maggie Valley is a beautiful location to visit. There isn't a great deal for children to do in Maggie Valley but it isn't too far to go to Cherokee, Waynesville, or Bryson City to find family friendly activities.

The downtown area had places to eat and shop. People are nice, helpful and receptive. There is a variety of food and bars. We did the Smokey Mountain Railroad trip to the gouge. The left side of the train as its traveling gives the best view. Food on the train was as good as any restaurant.

We love this area and visit often.

We love this area and visit often. Our main focus is driving the roads but we do like to take time (or a rainy day) to head to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Knoxville to check out the tourist attractions. Maryville is wonderfully central to everything that we want to see or do and has a ton of places to eat, stay, get gas, etc.
