This place is actually such a lovely experience. We went there as a couple on our honeymoon as part of a trip around South Africa and found this place on booking.com. We're so so glad we came here. The staff are really what made this place what it is. Every single person introduced themselves. Everyone was accomodating and was proactive - this is what differentiates transactional customer service with an experience that makes you feel valued and welcomed as a family member. Now, I must say that driving there should definitely consist of a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle. We made a massive mistake of driving there from richard's bay in a tiny red dishwasher of a car, in the pitch darkness. However, the staff know about these issues and actually all live locally (they even know how many hippos are in the lake!) So they came in a pick up truck to help navigate us when we got scared of the animals at night. Directions on Google are being fixed but I'd either recommend Waze or I'd recommend using the directions given by the hotel. We arrived about 20 minutes before a major storm so some activities were off the table (like visiting the wetlands as they were flooded!) For the rest of the week. Though we went on all other tours. Even when we didn't have cash to pay our driver for the big 5 safari (highly recommend) the lodge just paid it and billed us at the end, saving us yet again! When we asked to move rooms as it can get quite slippery and my wife's ankle is bad, they did it in 20 minutes. When we wanted laundry done before our next leg, they promised 24 hours and they did it in just over 12 (they were dried and pressed too!) To add to all of this, they've got board games and amazing cocktails and food to help you kill time. The food actually was a major highlight. We worked our way through the whole menu as it was so nice! The burgers are a highlight by the way! They even called us a few days prior to arrival to check our dietary requirements.

This was my second visit to Balaya Game Resort, and I’m thrilled to say it surpassed even my already extraordinary first trip two years ago. Having explored many places in the area, I wasn't sure if they could recreate that magic—but they not only met, they exceeded every expectation! The lodge is simply amazing, blending comfort with the raw beauty of nature. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the beds are new and incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful stay after a day of adventure. One of the standout features of Balaya is the game drives. They are truly special, offering an intimate glimpse into the wild. The passion and dedication of the rangers shine through in every drive. Their knowledge about the animals and the land, combined with genuine care for your experience, elevates each safari into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. During this visit, we even witnessed lions in their natural habitat—hunting and yes, killing. While such scenes might not be everyone’s cup of tea, for me, it was an awe-inspiring, raw demonstration of nature's realities. It's experiences like these that remind you of the wild’s unfiltered beauty and power. Overall, Balaya Game Resort delivers on every front. The friendly staff, the comfortable accommodations, and the exceptional game drives make it one of the best experiences I’ve had. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable safari adventure!

This property is the top notch in town, as it is close to Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park which is about 30 minutes drive. The house is close to the town centre and has a private courtyard with secured entrance gate. We booked a triple room for 3 adults and we expected my boy to share with us. However, the owner of the hotel realized there are 4 of us, and gave us an extra room to stay for free. How gracious and generous he is! Thank you! Clearly he doesn't take profit as his final objective, instead he focuses more on his guests ' wellbeing and care. Thank you so much! Both rooms are very clean and comfortable. We did a lot of cooking in the kitchen and saved a lot of money instead of going to restaurants. The hotel is very beautifully organized with a nice garden. The staff who work there are all nice and friendly, and willing to help at any time. A little dog is also so cute and cuddly.

Was glad that the accommodation was close to the park so we did not have to travel far to enter. Enjoyed our stay and will be back to stay on our next visit to the park.

We had an extraordinary stay at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge. The guide for the game drives was excellent and knew a lot about the animals and nature around. Safari Villa was very good and interior is exceptional. Food and drinks are amazing. We had an excellent time at Rhino Ridge and highly recommend to everyone.

It is such an amazing place! We stayed for 5 nights. The staff is lovely, super helpful also in planning our safari and other activities. The food was super nice. We stayed in the guesthouse which was so spacious and comfortable with the best view possible.

Large property, all full of trees, flowers, plants .. gives you a fantastic ' bush' feeling ! The staff extremely friendly, always willing to help ! The kitchen exceptional ! Very good place to start excursions into the park and surroundings.

The location and food was fabulous . We were fed like a King and Queens for our stay. The staff couldnt do enough for us especially our guide Janice and our tracker Medibe who were so enthusiastic about finding "the big 5" for us.

The rooms are clean, perfect. The food, the restaurant, the cocktails are amazing! Finally the staff is so cool, they are here for you if you need and they provide very good services.

The tent was a very special accomodation - very comfy and amazing sounds of nature to fall asleep to. Special bonus: White rhinos visited us for breakfast.

Staff were friend and very helpful. Accomodation was very neat and clean. Grounds were very well kept. It was a unigue experience!
