The hotel is amazing. Before booking, the price might seem a bit expensive but with what's included in the half board package (dinner, 1 safari, 1 night), it is great value for money. The room is very big. We liked having the last one (number 14). It felt very private.
Seeing zebras eating right outside the room is a fantastic experience.
Our guide (Christiaan) was very friendly.

We normally make use of Portao Diaz Hotel when we visit our family in Groot Brak River and George.
It is need and tidy and some of the people there remember us from visiting through the years. The view over the sea from our room, is each and every time my main thing in the mornings. I love the view.

We could watch the giraffes and the rhinos from our lodge. The location is excellent and the mountain view is beautiful.
The restaurant is excellent (dinner and breakfast).

It is a beautiful, still developing town by the coast..my family and I enjoyed walking along the beach and seeing fishing activities, people surfing, enjoying some well-known restaurants like Cattle Baron, Spur and other unique ones to the area. There's malls, hotels, caravan parks next to the ocean and we also went to the indoor market, where lots of interesting and beautiful things are sold, from food, to leather bags, to canvases to put on your walls. It is a peaceful, laid back & fun area. For the adventurers, there is zipline.

Seeplaas was excellent. Will definitely go again. The room was clean and well laid out. The view and sound of the ocean is heavenly. Enjoyed breakfast every morning, also looking at the sea the whole time. Saw whales and dolphins playing right in front of seeplaas.

Main purpose of our visit was game watching.
Main purpose of our visit was game watching. And this turned out to be excellent. Being very lucky to spot all kinds of animals we had the privilage to be accompanied by an outstanding guide - „King David“. Knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and very friendly. Thanks a lot, David!
Suggestion for improvement: We missed dustbins and better cleaning service in our room…

Love the tranquility of the area.
Love the tranquility of the area. The beaches are pretty and clean. Dolphins appear often while walking the beaches in the morning. Scenery is amazing with the mountain view one side and the beach the other side.

Mossel Bay is an ideal holiday destination for travelers seeking a mix of the following :
1. Historical exploration
2. Stunning beaches
3. High-energy outdoor activities, watersports, mountain biking, golf, hiking
4. Good restaurants, with some live music entertainment
5. Cabin living on farms away from the city
We have been visiting Mossel Bay for the last 30 years and continue to be one of our favorite holiday destinations, making it one of the most underrated stops along the Garden Route.

It’s been one of the best places to break away since my grandparents went on holidays. Hartenbos has kept up with the times and can proudly boast with its holiday atmosphere. If you havent been, make sure to go as soon as you are able.

Steve has very special accommodations in a very special location. He assisted me with finding the accommodation at night as it’s somewhat “ off the beaten track” which is why it’s so special.

Our two night stay was better than we expected.
Our two night stay was better than we expected. The games drives were excellent because we had to find the animals (they were not in pre-arranged locations). Our guide (Ruan) was brilliant and did whatever was needed to ensure we saw everything. Accommodation was comfortable. Would recommend stay at the lodge. Staying in one of the villas means a 15-20 drive to the lodge for the game drives (2 each day) and breakfast, lunch and dinner.
