Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. The lodging was excellent with the ultimate Japanese experience. The room had every immensity possible and the bed was really comfortable. We would differently stay here again.

Staff is super friendly and the overall experience was amazing!! Rooms were perfect and we felt we were in a movie! We booked the private onsen and it was amazing!

Guests can relax at the communal hot spring bath or the private hot-spring bath free of charge. You can cook in the fully equipped kitchen or read at the mini library. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the lounge. It was very nice and also liked the onsen a lot!

There is a coffee shop, and a minimarket is also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in.

From start to finish, everything about our stay was flawless—I genuinely can’t imagine how it could have be any better. Writing this review is my way of saying a heartfelt thank you to Isaribi and its incredible staff for an unforgettable experience. Pre-Arrival: The Warmest Welcome The hospitality at Isaribi started long before we even arrived. From the moment I booked, the staff were in touch, making sure everything was tailored to us. They reached out to confirm our arrival time, offered to pick us up from the train station, and even asked about dietary preferences. When I mentioned that my father doesn’t like raw fish, they assured me they’d prepare cooked versions of all meals for him (and boy did they deliver—more on that later). Their kindness and attention to detail instantly put me at ease and set the tone for what was to come. Arrival and Check-In As promised, a staff member greeted us at the station and drove us to the ryokan. Upon arrival, we swapped our shoes for comfortable zori sandals—and to my relief, even my dad’s size 13 feet found sandals that fit perfectly. While we waited for our room to be ready, we were treated to matcha tea and Japanese sweets in the lobby. The airy sitting area had breathtaking sea views, and there was even a coffee and espresso machine available for guests to use anytime, with both proper cups and takeout options. It felt like they had thought of everything. The Room: A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort We stayed in Room 206, which is their largest room, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

Located a 5-minute drive from Gero Station, Kawakamiya Kasuitei offers traditional Japanese-style guestrooms featuring tatami (woven straw) flooring and hot spring baths in the Gero Onsen area. The property offers free on-site parking and free shuttle service from/to Gero Station. Free WiFi is provided at the lobby and free parking is available on site. Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Some rooms include a seating area where you can relax. You will find a kettle in the room. Rooms include a private bathroom with a bath and shower, with slippers, free toiletries and a hair dryer provided. I liked the location away from the city noise and the ryokan itself with all the traditional decorations inside and outside the rooms. We didn't manage to visit all private onsens (there are four of them, two inside the building and two — outside, in the bamboo grove), but the ones that were located outside were almost serene. One can enjoy onsen without interruptions. Also, we had a friend who has tattoos. And this was the only option she could choose from. So, private onsens are a great addition to the ryokan itself. Oh! And the river view from our traditional Japanese room was quite nice.

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. The property also provides free pick-up service from JR Takayama Station. Free shuttle bus service is available when check-in, check-out, after dinner. The home was beautiful, spacious and clean. The hospitality was unbelievable, lovely, attentive, kind- I can’t say enough good things about Tai, his mother and the inn. It is gorgeous, spacious yet cozy. It was a top experience and should not be missed. The inn is an hour walk from town and is best accessed by car but Tai will pick you up and drive you around. He took us to a neighborhood we were interested in for dinner and then picked us up immediately afterwards. Breakfast was delightful and they even made a special vegetarian dish for me. Bathrooms are shared yet private. The rooms are huge and so pretty! The traditional mattresses were cozy and comfy.
