It’s like time travel, but as in most places in Japan people just do their best to make you feel good and welcome. The onsen is good and clean. The location next to Atera valley is perfect, especially in the middle of summer.

In late April the flowering peach trees look beautiful! This property is an annex of Hotel Fukinomori, just across the car park, and is an excellent way to enjoy the hotel’s facilities at a cheaper price, especially the amazing onsen and its view. If you don’t mind missing out on the kaiseki course meal then this is a great ryokan experience for a much lower price. It was my second time in 8 years that I visited this beautiful location, this time with my spouse. The room was huge, we had a massage seat that was all part of the package and dinner and breakfast were delicious. The onsens were superior and the attention of the staff was superb.
