Only some rooms include a balcony, tatami floors, and free toiletries. The greatest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The location is perfect- it's near the bus stop and pretty close to Open-Air Museum. I also loved the onsen, both of them were clean and nice. The common area is cool and everything you need is there. I absolutely recommend it!

We are very happy that we were able to visit this place! We thank the host and everyone who made our stay here very comfortable. Importantly, the owner speaks English very well. The room is spacious and comfortable, has everything you need. We really enjoyed sleeping on the futon! Yukata and haori are wonderful. And it is impossible not to note the presence in the room of a Nintendo console with rare games: Mario, Zelda and others. 3 private onsen with different water temperatures. They are available to guests 24 hours and without restrictions. It is very convenient that you can watch online whether onsen is busy or not. This is a small thing, but it makes so comfortable to visit the hot springs, you do not need to go down from the room and check whether it is occupied or not. Well thought out! The common area is also wonderful. Here you can drink tea/coffee/water after visiting onsen. Use a massage chair, play games, read manga. Well, breakfast! Mmmmm, how delicious everything was! We also had a few requests for food, since we do not eat some products and the host replaced some items in the breakfast so that everything would suit us. Thanks for this care, it was so nice. This is a truly amazing experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Every time we remember living here with warmth and delight. We really hope to come here again someday.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. The property boasts views of Tonomine, Myojogatake and Mount Asama. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The landscapes were amazing, the open air onsen was an incredible experience. We enjoyed the enlightened small garden at night!

Air-conditioned rooms feature a tatami (woven-straw) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. Amenities include an LCD TV, fridge, a safe and yukata robes. All rooms have a private toilet and washbasin, while bathroom facilities are shared. Green tea sets with snacks are provided. Everything was absolutely perfect: the place, the location (although it is a bit further up from the Lake and the main attractions, but there is a bus, so there is no problem getting to places), the staff. I booked the dinner, the breakfast and the private onsen: it was a dream. Everything was absolutely delicious and the onsen was extremely relaxing. The staff is kind and welcoming. If I am ever going back to Hakone, I will definitely stay here again. Also, there is a cute souvenir shop near the reception, I truly suggest to check it out. The ryokan provided a yukata that you can wear on the premises, with instructions that proved very useful, and I thought it was a very nice touch. My biggest regret was not buying it at the souvenir shop mentioned before and not trying the public onsen.

The en suite bathroom comes with toiletries and a bathtub. We loved the staff, kanna made our trip such an amazing memory and we wish her the best as she has been an absolute delight ! We recommend you also take the option to have breakfast and diner included as the experience is very pleasant. Hopefully we can come back soon, in the meanwhile take care Kanna !

Main Dining Room "The Fujiya" serves French cuisine in an elegant space. Restaurant Cascade offers Western dishes, while Kikka-so serves traditional Japanese kaiseki dinners. A bar, lounge and bakery are available. The location in Miyanoshito was amazing, and very handy for transport options. The breakfast and general dining facilities were outstanding. The entire property complex oozed class and comfort.

At the ryokan, every unit is fitted with a tatami and a flat-screen TV. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units are equipped with heating facilities. Perfect place. Staff is kind, welcoming. English is spoken too. I will definitely go back without hesitation.
