Tawaraya Ryokan is a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park and a 15-minute walk from Heiwa Kannon. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort is a 30-minute drive away. This was one of the finest ryokans I’ve stayed at in Japan. The outdoor onsen was beautifully designed, making for a perfect winter soak. The room was exceptionally spacious compared to others in the area, with a well-placed private bathroom that offered both convenience and privacy. Additionally, parking was hassle-free, making it a great choice for those traveling by car.

Minshuku Miyama provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 3 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 13 km of Ryuoo Ski Park. With an open-air bath, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. Guests can use the spa facilities, or enjoy mountain views. Location. At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. A free shuttle is available from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away. Great location and awesome facilities! Had both gendered onsens and also a private outdoor onsen you could use!

Offering a free-use reservable hot-spring bath, shared indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, and traditional multi-course dinners with Shinshu beef, Shibu Hotel is 8 minutes from Yudanaka Train Station on the free shuttle. The traditional rooms have Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. The private onsen was very pleasant and allowed couples to bath together unlike the public baths. The location was very convenient for access to the public onsen also with numbers 1 and 2 only 100 meters or so away. The Japanese breakfast and dinner included with the room was excellent with very attentive and personal service.

The air-conditioned rooms have tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags are provided in each. Rooms come with a private toilet but bathrooms are shared.

Japanese dishes featuring local ingredients are available at the ryokan. Dinner is served in a private dining room. Everything, the location, the staff, the food, the onsen at the top of the building, the room was really comfortable, and the attention from the employees was beyond exceptional. Also, they offered a ride to the snow monkey park which was a great plus. And, finally, suminoyu location is really good, I would consider staying at Suminoyu in the future.

Located in the Shibu hot-spring area, Onyado Hishiya Torazo features Japanese-style accommodations. Guests can soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and female guests can enjoy wearing colourful Japanese Yukata robes. Yudanaka Train Station is a 10-minute drive away and free Wi-Fi is available in the shared lounge. This is such a beautiful ryokan, highly recommended! Kind staff, beautiful room and a wonderful outdoor onsen. Don’t miss their delicious traditional Japanese breakfast in the morning.

Yasuragi Inn’s Japanese-style rooms have tatami (woven-straw) floors, futon beds and a flat-screen TV. Each room is air-conditioned. A fridge, an electric kettle and yukata robes are provided. All guests have access to the on-site hot spring public baths, and they can be reserved for private use. (please inquire at the front desk for more information.) The owner gave me a warm welcome. Everything was well-maintained and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend trying the dinner—it was absolutely delicious!
