Our stay at Azul is easily in the top 5 best ever. Having travelled from San Jose through to Hojancha, to arrive in a town where there is no bars on anything and the area is so safe that people leave their front doors open, it was amazing. The hosts have clearly lived in Azul for a bit as everything is so thought through and conveniently arranged that it makes spending time there very comfortable and easy. It has all the utensils and items you need, with all the little extras like olive oil and teas provided that saves you rushing out to the shops. The place is very clean and well looked after, the bed was luxurious and the shower was perfect. The kitchen has plenty of appliances. The view from the porch is spectacular, one you could never tire of seeing, and the options to sit in reclining chairs or at the table for breakfast are all that you need. The hosts are so helpful and supporting. Our air-con remote ran out of batteries whilst we were there, so immediately the host sent somebody to provide us with fresh batteries. Every question we had was answered and helpful, and they even took us out to an incredible viewpoint that is an absolute must if you visit the area. I cannot offer enough praise for azul and it’s hosts, it has been a highlight of our time in Costa Rica and if we come back then we will be staying at Azul again.

We loved this lodge. The moment we arrived to Samara, Denis reached out and explained how to get there. Waze works best in Costa Rica. Also if you rent the car, make sure to rent a higher one because some roads are pretty bumpy and you would need to push it. But it’s normal there. Once we arrived, they met us by the entry with warm hello, showed us our place, greeted and let us be. Breakfast was delicious and very thoughtful, based on our needs. Denis was so helpful. He answered all our questions, always within minutes replies to my messages. He also recommended bunch of places. Our lodge was clean and replenished daily. The view is great, private. Overall amazing stay! Highly recommend. Lovely owners! Thank you guys!!!!!!

Great place to stay outside of town in the ‘jungle’, monkeys, humming birds inclusive. The wooden homes are equipped with everything you need for a longer stay. Modern, clean and comfortable. 5min drive from Samara Beach. Friendly and helpful host. Definitely recommend staying here!

Such a beautiful view, excellent location and fantastic staff. Originally we only planned on staying for 3 nights, but ended up staying 7 nights. The pool area is superb, there are bikes and surfboards that you can use for free. Danny was such a brilliant host. He responded immediately to requests. At the bottom of the street there is a bakery called Roots. They serve the best breakfast. Also, don’t forget to feed the cat is there. She is so sweet and seems to be a thing that travellers buy cat food from the supermarket and keep her water and feed bowls (next to the washing machine) topped up. ❤️
