The room was spacious and comfortable with cozy wooden interior and a split-level layout. There was an electric heating mat on the mattress so we never felt cold in our room during the winter time. Maintaining a property in the mountain area is never an easy task and the hotel staff has done a great job in providing a comfortable accommodation to their guests. The complimentary shuttle service to the city centre, although with time restriction, is convenient and reliable.

The hotel is 1 km from Tata Medical Center and Ecospace Business Center. The Howrah Railway Station is 20 km away. Science City and Salt Lake Stadium are within a 10-minute drive. The Westin is a luxurious hotel providing all the amenities expected of a good 5-star hotel. I am not sure why but maybe because it is off-season in Kolta, but I thought the Westin was excellent value for money. It is probably more expensive in peak season. My room was spacious with an excellent desk and chair. The room has a huge bathtub and the shower is uite spacious. The special Bengali New Year's buffet dinner at Seasonal Tastes on the 10th floor was absolutely superb. I have not had so many excellent and exquisite dishes for a long time. They had live music during the dinner and I was entertaining people I wanted to chat with. We were promptly relocated to another part of the music where is was quieter and one could chat more easily. The gym is well-equipped and the swimming pool is also quite enticing. A special shout-out to the exceptional and helpful staff especially Mr Pranab Banerjee, Jr Sous Chef, who goes out of his way to attend to residents during breakfast, as well as Rinky and Tamal at Seasonal Tasters. The breakfast spread is exceptional. The only other place where the breakfast spread exceeds that offered at The Westin is the ITC Royal Bengal (in my opinion). All in all, I will certainly consider the Westin the next time I am in Kolkata.
