Soy was a beautiful experience! The Kogawa family was so friendly--for example, Kei drove us to our destinations and came to pick us up as well. He even brought our luggage to the station for us after we did some last-minute sightseeing, hours after we checked out. The breakfasts were delicious (we had a choice between Western and Japanese, both fantastic), and the rooms were full of comfort and charm. The Kura Room we stayed in had a beautiful wooden bathtub that was a wonderful hot soak, as well as a whole entertainment room on the second floor. I highly recommend it. And of course I have to mention Tara, the adorable and sweet Soy cat! Hanging out in front of the warm stove and drinking tea after a day of sightseeing while admiring Tara will always be a happy memory for me.

Excellent staff, they could not have been more helpful or friendly. Dinner was excellent, a wide variety of Hida beef dishes. The rooms are a good size and the futons are comfortable for a good night's sleep. The location is great, a few minutes from the train and just over the bridge from the main tourist attractions.

The staff is very nice and very helpful with everything! The room was very clean and has offered everything you need for a pleasent stay! The onsen is wonderful and also very clean. You can get down to the traditional district with the hotel's shuttle bus very easily. We are happy to have spent our time at Tabino Hotel and would love to come back one day. Thank you!

    We enjoyed our stay at SOY, the hosts Tai & Nobuko made us feel extremely welcomed, Tai was generous and punctual with providing shuttle service to and from town which was great given the location of the house being further away from the city center. The atmosphere of SOY was exceptional, we got to slow down and appreciate our surroundings which gave us the much needed reset to our busy itinerary. We hope the cat Tama is feeling better since we last saw her!

    A budget hotel that offers nothing fancy but it was convenient, clean, warm, and comfortable. The location was superb right opposite the train station. There were minimart and restaurants around. A good place to stay if you visit Takayama central and don't want to burn your budget on accommodation.
