Ballyvaughan
Situated in Newtown, 5 minutes’ drive from Ballyvaughan and Galway Bay, The Waters Country House boasts over 40 acres of farmland at the foot of the Burren Hills. Ailwee Cave, also featuring an underground river and a waterfall, is only 3km from the property. This property is the most beautiful, majestic space with breathtaking architecture. It is nestled into a hill with views of The Burren and the sound of flowing water is around every corner. There are several inviting common areas complete with fireplaces and the feeling of contemplation and peace. We topped off our eve with a whiskey at the “help yourself” bar. The next morning we visited the Ailwee Caves (a must see) and the 16th century tower house called Newtown Castle which is part of Burren College of Art - there was true student talent. Both places are a short walk or drive from The Waters Country House. This is a one of a kind B & B NOT to be missed and Wolfgang and Maria are the most gracious proprietors!

Wonderful staff. Amazing food.

We absolutely loved our stay! The place and the food were truly amazing - 10 out of 10. We’re already planning our next trip to the Leenane Hotel this summer. It’s also convenient to reach from Dublin without a car: take a train to Westport and then the 423 bus (be sure to check the bus schedule in advance; the bus stop is at Mill st). The rooms offer a stunning view of the fjord!

Located in Baltimore, 13 km from St Patrick's Cathedral, Skibbereen, Rolfs Country House provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. With free WiFi, this 3-star hotel has a restaurant and a bar. The property is non-smoking and is situated 49 km from Lisellen Estates. We spent two nights at Rolf’s in Baltimore and had a truly wonderful experience. The room was small but charming, clean, and fully adequate for a comfortable stay. The food was outstanding — refined French-style cuisine with a subtle German touch. We started with the scallops St. Jacques and the duck liver, both rich and perfectly balanced. For mains, the venison was cooked beautifully, and the fish stew — still made by their mother — was absolutely delicious and full of tradition. What really made our stay special was the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by Frederica and Johannes, the lovely brother-sister duo running this family business. Frederica was a perfect host — gracious and attentive — while Johannes impressed us not only with his culinary skills but also with his sense of humor and passion for cooking. It’s a charming and heartfelt place, where you feel the family history and pride in every detail. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Baltimore — both for dining and for a peaceful, authentic stay.

I loved the location, overlooking the promenade and within a comfortable walk to the city centre but away from all the hustle and bustle and night time economy noise. Being able to step outside first thing in the morning and have a beach walk was awesome. Breakfast was excellent and kept me well fuelled for the day’s adventures ahead. The hosts were friendly (as was the dog!). My room was comfortable and mostly quiet. Other guests were respectful of the property also.
Beautiful lounge, really well equipped kitchen. Hostel is in excellent location close to the city centre, nice restaurant and bus station. Clean and new, really nice. Good price! I am happy I stayed here.
Comfortable rooms at a very good price. Reception staff were great and really helpful with anything we asked for. Great location as well, right by the entrance to University College Cork. There are lots of buses from the city centre to the guest house as well.
