JR Hida Furukawa Station is within a 5-minute stroll from the property. Guests will have the entire property to themselves during their stay. We stayed in Iori Tonomachi in Hida Furukawa. I had been looking at properties in Takayama but wasn't satisfied until I saw this stay in neighbouring Furukawa. It was stunning in the pictures so we decided to book 5 nights, as a family of three (including a 1 year old). The place is so well located by the canal, it was like stepping into a piece of history. The area is well maintained and was beautiful with the autumn leaves and koi carp, the setting couldn't have been more perfect. The house itself is warm and inviting and well designed, as well as well equipped with everything we needed. Extra touches such as blinds in the bedroom and bathroom, and a projector which we used for movies, made things even more intimate. The beds were wide and comfortable, and the bathtub was very special. All throughout the stay we felt connected to the wider Hida community. We had greeting gifts of local miso crackers and mouthwatering daifuku, as well bath salts and local spring water. We went back to the shops for more! We were greeted by a member of staff, and they and others remained connected throughout our stay to ensure we had places to eat for lunch and dinner, making reservations for us and organising our luggage forwarding. Our days started off with traditional breakfast sets hand delivered by a sweet lady who even brought a gift for our baby. They were so yummy and differed day to day. We asked for Japanese meals for our entire stay and they accommodated this request. We parked in the city hall car park which was a short walk away. We didn't mind this as we could stroll through the neighbouring Buddhist temple and festival square. We looked forward to returning to Furukawa after our trips, and getting to know the town. We miss it a lot already! The town of Furukawa itself is quiet and artistic, the woodwork is especially of note.

Very nice staff, nice onsen, good location to hike and to visit Kamikochi, nice little village with several free hot footbathes
The owner was caring and the place was super clean. There are a range of snack food options available for ¥150 which was excellent as there aren't many food options for dinner in the area. It is around a 15min walk to the Shirakawa-go Gassho Village and the bus stop. Perfect place to relax!
Generous supply of food in the fridge & kitchen table. Comfortable tatami room & futons. Cable for charging of devices. Good location near the village, convenience store , eateries. The informative self-made/drawn booklets on what to do, eat, see in the village. Thanks also for the free passes to the nearby hot spring (think we got them cos we stayed 2 nights).
Absolutely amazing place in an amazing town. Great way to experience Magome overnight when the village is quiet.
Extremely clean, luxury bath products & view of the mountains.
The onsen is magnifique. You even have private baths if you want and opened late night. They offer ramen at night, after 10pm which is quite nice. The room is very good in space, decoration and amenities Spotless clean. Free shuttles from and to the old village
Lovely Japanese house in a beautiful village. Situated next to a small creek and eating options. There is a gorgeous little garden with a bath tub which we thoroughly enjoyed.
How to make justice to this place and to the lovely, caring, generous, and amazing owners. The room had space, the place was beautiful, the food was delicious, the facilities were clean and great. I could take a bike for free and ride around the village, which made my experience way more enjoyable. Sada and Yuka, I will definitely come back and we'll have a drink together while watching the snow.
Nice and quiet place with good sized rooms. Walk was about 10 mins from the village centre. Nice touch to leave some food and drinks for guests. Owner is very friendly and helpful.
The villa was spacious, clean, comfortable, and luxurious. We were blown away by the interior aesthetics which exceeded the images shown on the listing. Amenities were generous and excellent facilities were provided. Cups, plates, beverage classes (from pretty Japanese tea cups to glass-cut sake cups were provided). Definitely able to accommodate a group of 5-6 comfortably. Bed was really comfy, clean, and the whole apartment smelled so good.
